Why do I need to connect Spotify?
Music League uses Spotify to search for songs when you're making submissions, play music during voting, and build the round playlists you listen to. Without Spotify connected, you can't participate in a league.
What kind of Spotify account do I need?
Either a Free or Premium Spotify account works. You'll sign in with your existing Spotify account the first time you connect — you don't need to create a new one.
When will I be asked to connect?
If you tap Continue with Spotify on the sign-in screen, Spotify is connected automatically in the same step.
If you sign in with email and password, you'll be taken to a screen to connect Spotify right after. You need to complete this step before you can create or join a league.
My Spotify connection expired. What do I do?
In most cases, Music League refreshes the connection in the background and you won't notice. If the connection can't be refreshed automatically, you'll be asked to sign in to Spotify again — this usually takes a few seconds and you won't lose any of your league data.
Why did I lose my Spotify connection?
A few things can disconnect your Spotify account from Music League:
- You disconnected Music League from Spotify. If you tapped Disconnect on your Music League Profile page, or removed access to Music League from your Spotify apps page, your connection ends immediately.
- Your access token expired. Spotify access tokens have a limited lifespan. If Music League can't refresh yours automatically, you'll be asked to reconnect.
- Someone else signed in with the same Spotify account. Each Music League account must be tied to a unique Spotify account. If another Music League user connects the same Spotify account to their account, your connection is replaced.
- Spotify is down. If Spotify's API is having an outage, Music League can't verify your session. Try again in a few minutes.
To reconnect, open your Profile page and tap Switch account, or sign in with Spotify again.
Can I disconnect Spotify?
Yes. You have two options:
- From Music League. Open your Profile page and tap Disconnect on the Spotify connection card.
- From Spotify. Go to spotify.com/account/apps and click Remove Access next to "Music League."
Either way, you'll need to reconnect Spotify the next time you use Music League.
