Getting Started

Using Siri with Music League

Ask Siri for song ideas for your round or jump straight to it, using the exact phrases that work on iPhone.

On iPhone, you can ask Siri to help with your round without opening Music League first. Siri can suggest songs that fit your round's theme, or take you straight to the round so you can submit.

What you need

  • An iPhone with the Music League app on a recent version. Siri shortcuts aren't available on the website or in the Android app.
  • To be signed in to Music League.
  • A round that needs a song from you. Siri looks for the round with the soonest deadline where you haven't submitted yet.
  • Apple Music access (optional). If you've connected Apple Music, Siri puts songs from your library and recently played music first. If you use Spotify, you still get song ideas, just from the Apple Music catalog rather than your own listening.

What to say

Siri only runs Music League when your phrase includes "Music League" and matches one of the phrases below. Say them as written.

To get song ideas for your round:

  • "Hey Siri, find a song for my round in Music League"
  • "Hey Siri, help me pick a song in Music League"
  • "Hey Siri, get song ideas from Music League"
  • "Hey Siri, what should I submit in Music League"

To open your round:

  • "Hey Siri, open my round in Music League"
  • "Hey Siri, show my round in Music League"

Phrases that leave out the app name, like "Hey Siri, find me a song for my round," won't reach Music League. And Siri can't answer open-ended questions about your account, such as "ask Music League what leagues I'm in." It only understands the phrases above.

What you get back

Song ideas appear as a card with a handful of suggestions, each with artwork, title and artist. Songs already in your library or played recently are labeled. The card also shows your round's deadline. On newer versions of iOS, tapping a song opens your league page with the song already searched, ready to submit.

Open my round launches the app on your round's league page.

Nothing is submitted for you. Submitting a song is public to your league and hard to undo, so that last tap is always yours.

Find or change your shortcuts

You can also run these from the Shortcuts app. Search for Music League and you'll see Find a Song and Open Round. Tap one to run it, or add it to your Home Screen.

If Siri doesn't respond

  • Check the phrase. It has to include "Music League" and match one of the phrases above.
  • Sign in. If you're signed out, Siri can't see your rounds. Open the app and sign in, then try again.
  • Check you owe a song. If you've already submitted to every open round, there's nothing for Siri to suggest.
  • Give it a moment. Song ideas come from the server, so a slow connection can delay or empty the card.
  • Check Siri is allowed. In iPhone Settings, find Music League and make sure its Siri options are turned on.

This is an official Music League account.
