Deleting Your Account

What happens when you delete your Music League account — the immediate effects, the 30-day grace period, and what stays online.

How do I delete my account?

Open your Profile, go to your account settings, and choose Delete your account. You'll land on a confirmation page that explains exactly what happens. To confirm, type DELETE in the box and tap Delete my account one last time.

Deleting your account is irreversible. Read this page before you confirm — there's no recovery once you do.

What happens the moment I confirm?

As soon as you confirm, Music League signs you out and immediately:

  • Blocks any future login — you can't sign back in with your password, with Spotify, or with Apple.
  • Disconnects your music service — Music League's access to your Spotify or Apple Music account ends right away.
  • Removes your social connections: your friends, your followers, and the people you follow.
  • De-identifies you — your name and profile are replaced by an anonymized "Music League player" and a music-note icon everywhere they appeared, and you drop off member rosters and invitations. Your past scores stay in each league's standings and history, but credited to "Music League player" rather than your name.
  • Stops all notifications — no more emails or push messages.
  • Reserves your email — your email address can't be re-registered for 30 days.

Is there a grace period?

Yes. After you confirm, your account is deactivated but not erased right away. Your record is kept for a 30-day grace period, then permanently deleted.

During those 30 days you can't sign in — deletion is treated as final the moment you confirm it. There's no self-serve way to undo it. If you deleted your account by mistake, contact Music League support as soon as possible; once the 30 days pass, the account and its personal data are gone for good and can't be recovered.

What gets permanently deleted?

After the 30-day grace period, your account is permanently removed, along with:

  • Your profile — display name, accomplishments, social connections, email, password and all associated images.
  • Your memberships in every league you've joined or created.
  • Your submissions, votes, and comments.

What stays online after I'm gone?

Deleting your account doesn't take anyone else's accomplishments with it.

  • Songs you submitted to other people's leagues stay in those round playlists, comments remain (attributed only to "Music League player"), votes received/given, etc. all stay to protect the integrity of each league and other players' statistics. None of it is linked to you in any way.

What happens to the leagues I created?

Nothing breaks for the other players. When you created a league, you were its League Admin — but deleting your account doesn't delete the league or reset anyone's progress.

Instead, ownership moves to an anonymized placeholder called "Music League player." A completed season stays exactly as it was: every round, every submission, every vote, and every comment from the other members survives. The league keeps its full history — the only change your fellow players see is that its League Admin now reads "Music League player" instead of your name.

You don't have to hand off your role or clean anything up first although you can promote a league player to take over your admin role before you leave if you wish.

What about a league I've only joined?

If you only played in a league (you didn't create it), leaving works the same way it does for any player who steps away. Your account appears in that league as "Music League player". For how leaving affects your own place in a league, see How to Play Music League and How a League Progresses.

Can I take my data with me first?

If you're a subscriber and want a copy of a league's activity before you go, you can export it while your account is still active. See Exporting Your League Data.

This is an official Music League account.
